Saapadhya Veda

Sthapatya veda is an ancient system of knowledge that involves the connection between people and the buildings in which they live and work. It is similar to the Chinese concept of feng shui. In sthapatya veda, the belief is that the design of the structure has an effect on one's prana. If the design of the building is in harmony with the laws of nature, it will promote positive energy. From Sanskrit sthapatya, means “establishment” and veda means “knowledge.” The Vedas, of which Sthapatya is one, are the foundations and spiritual core of yoga. The concept of sthapatya veda also relates to the design of villages and cities. It is thought that people are affected by the buildings in which they live and work, as well as the communities where they reside. In a design that is in harmony with nature, the person feels content, calm and fulfilled; while a poorly designed community or structure can lead to sickness, stress and anxiety.
