एकाहारेण सन्तुष्टः षट्कर्मनिरतः सदा । ऋतुकालाभिगामी च स विप्रो द्विज उच्यते ॥

ekāhāreṇa santuṣṭaḥ ṣaṭkarmanirataḥ sadā | ṛtukālābhigāmī ca sa vipro dvija ucyate ||

Shlok Meaning

Translation

वही सही में ब्राह्मण है जो केवल एक बार के भोजन से संतुष्ट रहे, जिस पर १६ संस्कार किये गए हो, जो अपनी पत्नी के साथ महीने में केवल एक दिन समागम करे. माहवारी समाप्त होने के दुसरे दिन.

Translation

He alone is a true brahmana (dvija or “twice-born”) who is satisfied with one meal a day, who has the six samskaras (or acts of purification such as garbhadhana, etc.) performed for him, and who cohabits with his wife only once in a month on an auspicious day after her menses.
