Being situated on the banks of the Ganga River, Lord Vishnu is widely known as Ganga Keshav.

It is believed that devotees who worship Ganga Keshav will attain honor and glory in Vishnu Lok (Vaikunth Dham). According to the beliefs, those who take a bath in this sacred teerth and perform the Shraddh ceremony for their ancestors are liberated from Pitradosh, the ancestral affliction.
