शृण्वतां स्वकथाः कृष्णः पुण्यश्रवणकीर्तनः। हृद्यन्तःस्थो ह्यभद्राणि विधुनोति सुहृत्सताम्॥१७॥

Śṛṇvatāṁ svakathāḥ kṛṣṇaḥ puṇyaśravaṇakīrtanaḥ| Hṛdyantaḥstho hyabhadrāṇi vidhunoti suhṛtsatām||17||

English Translation

For those who listen (śṛṇvatām) to His (sva) stories (kathāḥ), Kṛṣṇa (kṛṣṇaḥ), the One who is possessed of the virtuous (puṇya) Śravaṇa --i.e. the act of hearing His pastimes-- (śravaṇa) (and) Kīrtana --i.e. the act of mentioning His names-- (kīrtanaḥ), (the One who) remains (sthaḥ) inside (antar) of the heart (hṛdi) (and who) is well-disposed (suhṛd) toward the good people (satām), removes (vidhunoti) the inauspicious (tendencies or vāsanā-s) (abhadrāṇi) indeed (hi)1||17||
